The Montbell Permafrost Light Down Jacket is a no-nonsense alpine jacket that uses Windstopper to protect your body's warmth from the chilling effects of the wind and weather. Windstopper fabric greatly enhances the insulating properties, while protecting the 800 fill power goose down against moisture accumulation.

This is accomplished with minimal weight penalty allowing it to weigh in well under a pound. When winter conditions prevail, but a full on expedition parka would be overkill, the Permafrost Light makes a lot of sense. No gimmicks here. Just your old stand by puffy infused with a little modern technology. Generously cut to accommodate a variety of winter layering systems.

Hand warmer pockets and micro-fleece lined collar increases comfort. Full front water resistant Aqua-Tect zipper makes venting easy and keeps out the moisture. Alpine elastic cuffs with velcro adjustments and one hand hem adjusters for both sides seal out drafts. Welded single quilt construction reduces weight. Stuff sack included.

Ballistic™ nylon is one and a half times more abrasion resistant than other similar weight fabrics and boasts three times the tear strength of nylons that are almost 20% heavier. Because of this, Ballistic™ nylons have allowed Montbell to reduce the weight of many of their products by more than 50% without sacrificing durability. This strength comes from the manufacturing process where the nylon is repeatedly heated and stretched to align the molecules, much like the tensilizing of steel, resulting in an extremely durable, light weight, wind and water resistant fabric.
