Description
  • Lightest Forged Steel Head Ice Axe
  • Includes Adjustable Leash
  • High Strength Allow Shaft
  • Classic Positive Blade
  • Asymmetrical Spike
The Grivel Air Tech Racing SA with Leash is the lightest forged steel ice axe in the world. The Air Tech Racing is for the climber that wants the lightest possible tool without sacrificing the strength and performance necessary to address unexpected challenges.

Forged cromoly steel head has rounded top edges for comfort. Serrated teeth extend from the tip of the pick to the shaft for extra grip. Leash hole in the pick allows you to attach a leash.

The light alloy shaft is finished with an asymmetrical spike. The SA shaft (SA stands for self arrest) has a slight curve to penetrate the snow at a better angle than a straight shaft, increasing its resistance to extraction. The resistance is always perpendicular to the plane of application of force so the geometry of a curved shaft is better than a straight one. This is true both when ascending and descending. The shaft resists 280kg when tested according to the UIAA methods.

The Grivel Long Leash that is adjustable for length. The rubber tip protector can be used on the ice axe’s spike or pick. Wrist support and grip are improved with natural rubber sleeve.

Compatible with: The Grivel Slider hand rest that slides to the top of the shaft when sunk in snow or to the bottom to support hand in traction.
